January the 1st is well known for new commitments and making weight loss resolutions such as losing 20 pounds in 2 weeks are one of the most common. Usually this is something which most people have tried earlier but with little luck due to an unfocused plan and lack of commitment. This is considered very important because nowadays, there’s a lot of public awareness relating to the danger involved in being over weight. In medical terms, if you are over weight beyond the average BMI then you are considered to be obese and may want to lose fat pounds quickly. This is a condition in which your body accumulates so much fat that it puts your body at risk. This is not an exaggerated statement, there are more than 400,000 people that die every year because of problems related to obesity, according to researchers.

There are many ways in which people gain weight. Many people believe that the main reason for this is that they keep eating high calorie diets, do not exercise or suffer from genetic issues which are compounded because of the first 2 points. It is not an unusual sight to see a lot of families going to eat breakfast, lunch as well as dinner at fast food joints as they do not have enough time to go shopping for groceries or to cook wholesome meals at home. Little wonder why tummy fat reduction resolutions go without avail.

Most people don’t stick to the weight loss resolutions that they make because of time constraints. As mentioned earlier, our society today asks a lot from people. Especially during a harsh recession such as the current one, many people are being forced to work at 2 or 3 jobs just so that they can make ends meet as well as send their children to school and care of their families. These people are very tired when they get home and cannot even think of exercising or cooking healthy food at this time. restaurants which serve fast food are the only choice for these people. Fast food is not only supposed to be very addictive but is also a very high source of cholesterol.

Another common reason why many people cannot maintain their resolutions is that they don’t have a very disciplined lifestyle. If you want to follow your resolutions then you will need to be disciplined. Like in the case of exercising, you cannot continue doing it half heartedly. You have to ensure that you have a routine and that you practice it with utmost diligence. You can help yourself out by asking a friend to join you in regular fitness regimes. This will keep you more focused and perhaps entertained. This person has to want you to succeed and helps makes sure that you stick with your resolution and that you do not go back to your old, unhealthy lifestyle.
